Club Everton : FAQs
How did you get the name?
The club's founder was an Everton FC supporter and prime mover in an
attempt to resurrect a defunct Dublin group for supporters of the Merseyside club.
Administration and other difficulties were slowing things down, so on June 23, 1971 he
assembled a committee and proceeded to found a new independent body, Club Everton Atha Cliath.
Where is your home ground?
Currently the club uses St. Anne's Park for (Sunday) home fixtures, but across the years Fairview
Park, Castleknock, Phoenix Park, RCSI Dardistown, and St. Paul's College have all been home to us.
When do you play?
Home games are fixed for Saturdays, KO 3pm. Away games depend on the host teams facilities.
Where may we see your fixtures?
The Evening Herald, provides a comprehensive list of fixtures (and results) each Monday afternoon.
There is also the Amature Football League website.
How many teams have you?
One, playing in Division 2 of the Amature Football League.
Do you expect to expand?
Yes, a comprehensive package of club development leading with time to the acquisition of a second team is already in position.
What are your teams colours?
Our official strips echoed those of Everton FC at time of foundation, hence the official colours area Royal, Amber and White. In effect, the Club has worn
a range of hues from time to time, but currently we are returning to the original concept.
What is the significance of your club badge?
Displaying the above colors, the badge features a shield for courage, surrounded by a band (for eternity) bearing the name of the club and a gilded
laurel twiglet, bearing one leaf for each member present at the moment of foundation. The shield
features Prince Rupert's Tower and a flaming castle, for Merseyside and Dublin respectively and football. Of themselves, some of these symbols derive from ancient antiquity.
What is the meaning of your club motto?
Again derived from that of Everton FC "Nothing but the best satisfies".
What is the use of the Irish language?
From the beginning it was always flet that use of our own language in some degree or other
reinforced our identity among the world-wide number of similarly named clubs.
Have you say religious or pollitical affiliations?
Absolutely none. Club Everton operates on a completely non-sectarian, non-political basis.
Are you publicly founded?
No. Our club exists on the voluntary endeavours of our members and forthcoming assistance from friends and sponsors.
